Al Williams, drummer, entrepreneur and promotor of jazz, was recently honored by the Living Legend Foundation for the Living Legend Jazz Series. And we are honored and excited to have he and the Jazz Society back to play at the Basement Lounge. As you know, Al opened the Jazz Safari here in Long Beach, in 1978 and went on to open the legendary Birdland West in 1986. which has been acclaimed from musicians and critics alike as one of the finest jazz clubs in the nation. Al Williams Jazz Society, composed of some of the finest muscians in Southern California features, George Shaw, Doug Webb, Nedra Wheeler Dave Bradshaw, and Tony Poingsett.

“Radio” (Gail Harris) is an exciting vocalist with a jazzy, R&B style, but has been influenced by gospel and hip hop as well. “Radio” may be new on the scene but is making a tremendous impact with her strong vocal performances. She recently performed at the Long Beach Terrance Theater for Rainbow Promotions, opening for Gerald Albright, Boney James and Norman Brown. “Radio” is already a force to be reckoned with.
